R&B songstress Jill Scott is reportedly divorcing her husband, Mike Dobson after less than 18 months of marriage.
According to reports, Scott cites “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.” She also says it would be “unsafe” for her to continue living with her husband and claims “irreconcilable differences” for ending the marriage.
Scott and Dobson married in June 2016, and according to sources, they have been living in separate homes since September 5.
Scott is reportedly asking a judge to enforce the couple’s prenuptial agreement.
In the court documents Scott lists Dobson’s occupation as ‘unemployed’ which he denies, telling reporters that he’s held a position with the city of Atlanta since 2011.
He says she’s trying to smear his name but that he’s willing to ‘fight dirty’.
‘She likes to emasculate men – that’s her problem,’ he said. ‘I told her, she’s from Philly, but I’m from New York, and if you want to try to disgrace me, try to slander me, I can fight dirty,’
Scott and Dobson have no children together.
Scott was previously married to Lyzell Williams from 2001-2007.
She shares an eight-year-old son named Jett from her previous relationship with drummer John Roberts.
